| AMERICAN FLAG PIN SIZE: Approximately 1 1/2" x 2 1/4" Since 1999, the American Flag has been a reoccurring symbol in Merritt's art work. This Americana flag is hand-painted on a piece of rusted tin that was taken off a barn and a rusted hard cut flooring nail is added for the pole. The rust represents our history, the nail represents the binding of one to another in brotherhood and the flag reminds us of what our ancestors and we have fought to protect. Like our flag, we will stand together for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The artist, Merritt is a self-taught artist who works in a little red & brown barn where she continues every day to challenge herself to create art where she and art lovers can develop a love affair for her art work. Since the inception of her art career, her art work has had the pleasure of being shown in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Alaska. It has been featured/used in magazines, newspapers and television commercials.
